ECOMOS II is a multinational effort within the framework of a European Defence Agency (EDA) project arrangement. Its aim is to provide a generally accepted and harmonized European computer model for computing nominal target acquisition ranges of optronic imagers operating in the visible or thermal infrared. The project involves close cooperation of defence authorities and public research institutes from France, Germany and the Netherlands.
ECOMOS II uses and combines well-accepted existing European tools to build up a strong competitive position. These are the atmospheric radiative transfer code MATISSE and two target acquisition models: the analytical TRM4 model and the image-based TOD model.
The international cooperation work is supported by the national organizations DGA/DT/ST/IP/CGN/OP (France), WTD 91-500 (Germany) and DMO/ST/DWS/RMS/SW&IT/ST (The Netherlands).
